Temporary Covid Protection Protocols

Dear Pet Parents,

We want to assure you that we take the health and well-being of our community, hard-working colleagues and pet parents very seriously. Like you, we’re closely monitoring the quickly developing effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and due to increasing concerns for staff safety, we are updating our protocols. As of 12pm, March 19, 2020, we no longer allow pet parents into our hospitals, unless it is for a euthanasia. We appreciate your understanding as we take this precaution to protect you as well as our staff, which in turn will allow us to continue to provide veterinary services to our patients!

Please Remain in Your Car. We Will Come To You.

We have posted signage outside our hospitals instructing pet parents to remain in their vehicle and to call the number posted on the sign for instruction. Our staff member will inform the pet parent via phone call or text to bring their pet to the main lobby door when we are ready to intake the patient. Once the pet parent arrives at the lobby door to transfer their pet, our staff member will ask the pet parent to return to their vehicle and await further communication/instruction.

If your pet is in a life threatening or emergent situation, please call the number posted outside and our staff, wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE), will retrieve your pet out of your vehicle if they cannot walk, and place them on a gurney for transfer inside the hospital for treatment. Please wait in your vehicle and our staff will call you to obtain a brief history, discuss critical care, obtain a directive, e-mail you with an estimate, and secure an initial deposit. A doctor/technician will call you to provide updates on your pet’s status and provide next steps.

If your pet requires euthanasia, we want to provide you with the opportunity to say goodbye to your loved one yet keep our staff safe. It will be to the discretion of our doctor/technician teams to determine whether they will allow you into the hospital. If allowed, you will be provided with PPE (gloves and mask) to wear and our doctor/technician teams will also be wearing full PPE. We may limit the number of family members who are present for the euthanasia. Please be honest with our teams and for everyone’s well being, do not enter the hospital if you are sick. We trust our pet parents to keep our teams safe so that we may continue to care for the pets in our community.

We are all in this together. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will follow guidance from public health officials and government agencies, so we can continue to support our pet parents, colleagues and communities as needed.
